Community Event with Samuel Johns: Walking in Nature with Awareness

  • 6601 Springbank Street Philadelphia, PA, 19119 United States (map)

Please join Samuel Johns for an in-person practice session hosted by Delaware Valley Insight.

Walking in Nature with Awareness: Join us for an afternoon of practicing awareness in nature lead by Samuel Johns. All abilities are welcome and will be supported during the two hour program. We will connect and walk together for an afternoon of meditation in the Wissahickon, with practice invitations inspired by Sayadaw U Tejaniya and Joanna Macy.

Guide Bio: Samuel has been practicing meditation since 2013. He initially started practicing to support his participation in endurance sporting events. Since then his practice has evolved from sitting daylong retreats to longform retreats, including a six-week retreat at Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in 2018. Samuel is currently a participant in the two-year Community Dharma Mentors program lead by Narayan Leibenson through Cambridge Insight Meditation Center. Teachers that have supported and inspired Samuel’s practice include: Jon Kabat Zinn, Alexis Santos, Greg Scharf, Devon Hase, Jozen Tamori Gibson, Narayan Liebenson, Sharon Salzberg, and Dara Williams. He has also worked for the meditation app Ten Percent Happier since 2016.

Location: The offering will be hosted at 6601 Springbank St, Philadelphia, 19119, a beautiful property that backs directly onto the Wissahickon.

Parking: For those that are able, please park on Westview Ave and walk down Springbank street. If closer access is required, there are a few spots within the driveway of 6601 Springbank Street.

All Welcome! This program is appropriate for both new and experienced meditators — all are welcome. Please bring a reusable water bottle with water for your personal use.
